Crock Pot Sweet Potatoes

No more heating up the house with the hot oven during summer time to obtain tasty sweet potatoes.  Microwave sweet potatoes are okay, but you do not get the sweet candy taste that can be obtained by baking in a regular oven or a crock pot.

A small crock pot works great for 1 or 2 large potatoes or 3 or more smaller ones.

Before leaving for work in the morning, just place the raw , unpeeled, sweet potatoes into the crock pot and cover with a lid. Turn the crock pot on to low heat and allow to cook until you return home in the evening.

Need your sweet potatoes quicker? Just turn the crock pot temperature to high! Your potatoes should be cooked in about 2 to 3 hours.

You can wrap the uncooked potatoes in foil before placing into the crock pot.  This makes clean up a breeze.

Cook and enjoy the delicious and healthy benefits of sweet potatoes!

Boiling Eggs Don’ts My Review of Eggies as Seen on TV Product

Boiling eggs should be easy! This is my try with this As Seen on TV Product.

First you wash and dry the plastic egg containers.  Second you rub,not spray, cooking oil on the inside of the containers. Crack you raw eggs shells and place the yolk and white of the eggs into the oils container.   After securing the screw on tops, you place the raw egg filled containers into a boiler of cool water, bring to a boil, and boil up to 20 minutes depending on the size of the eggs.

While boiling, some of the egg white leaked out into the water. Once the eggs have reached the hard boil stage, removed the containers and cool slightly with cold water.  Open the plastic container and remove the eggs.

Now I see why these Eggies were being sold at the Dollar Tree Store.  So glad I did not purchase these when they were advertised on TV at a much higher price than $1 a box!!!

IT IS SO MUCH EASIER to place eggs in their own shells into cool water, bring water to boiling point, place a lid on, remove from heat, and let set 15-20 minutes until cooked.

Glass Blocks Lighted Christmas Farm Scene

Glass Block Lighted Christmas Scene Farm

Miniature scenes capture the imagination and awe of the spectator. What a  way to brighten up the dark, dreary winter evenings with a soft light.  You can turn glass blocks into beautiful lighted music boxes that provided the viewer with miniature winter scenes.  You are only limited by your imaginations. Cotton and artificial snow blanket the ground around the miniature trees.  Lights that reflect onto the glass enclosure adds to the mesmerizing scene. When you attach a musical button that plays holiday  or other appropriate songs, the lighted block becomes a joyful music box.

ITEMS NEEDED:

  • Glass block with opening in the glass block
  • Glue gun and glue sticks
  • Tacky Glue
  • Felt
  • Wide ribbon
  • Miniature lights 10-20 light strand
  • Long needle nose pliers,
  • A pencil or wooden skewer
  • Cotton or fake snow
  • Snow glitter (optional)
  • Inexpensive artist paint brushes
  • Miniature toys

For a snow scene, apply glue to the inside base of the block. Sprinkle with artificial snow or press pulled cotton on to the wet glue.  If you like, you can apply glue with a artist paint brush to the back and sides “inside” of the glass block and sprinkle with snow glitter.

There are a couple of ways you can glue the miniature toys inside the glass blocks.  (1)  Place hot glue or Tacky glue onto the bottom of the toy. Using the long pliers carefully insert the toy into the position inside of the block. Gently press the toy into place.  Hold  the toy in position until the glue begin to set.

Using hot glue, carefully adhere miniature battery operated or electric lights to the sides and top of the glass block. Be extra careful not to burn yourself with the hot glue.

Once the glue has cooled and the lights have adhered to the block.  Glue a strip or strips of felt over the lights.

Glue wide ribbon around all sides of the block and tie into a large box on top of the glass block.  You can glue or tie additional ornament of decoration to the bow.

ENJOY!
